Nice one Oldgirl... :face-stir:
It is indeed true that the Scotch are indeed invited to join in.. its just we are already doing SAM... so the options are to do two major events a year or one...
by that reckoning, if we (the deep fried mars bar swilling scotch) invited you (the soft southern mushy pea munching geezers) to get involved ... does that mean we could legitimacy change the name to British Archaeology month... or would people say...
" hang on... its all in Scotland, apart from a single town walk in Berwick upon Tweed ..." That's not British is it.? [hm]
both events can work fine together.. and given the Archaeology Scotland response on Britarch itself from Eila Macqueen ...

Quote:quote:The Council for Scottish Archaeology (now known as Archaeology Scotland) decided to move Scottish events away from National Archaeology Week several years ago, primarily due to the different timing of school holidays in Scotland & England, to tie in with Doors Open Days and European Heritage Days and to make links with other Scottish initiatives such as East Lothian Archaeology Week and Highland Archaeology Fortnight. Archaeology Scotland coordinates Scottish Archaeology Month, with funding from Historic Scotland as part of Scotland's contribution to European Heritage Days. SAM happens throughout September across the whole of Scotland. This year we will have over 150 events - all of which are free. We work closely with event organisers in Scotland to promote and coordinate SAM. With the increase in Scottish-based events throughout the year such as Perthshire Archaeology Month, SAM, Highland, East Lothian and so on, the Festival of British Archaeology needs to make sure it also promotes what is already an active and vibrant scene in Scotland rather than potentially confusing people and diluting effort.
