A real value to archaeology

Businesses on the Orkney island of Westray are enjoying an economic boom, thanks to publicity surrounding the discovery of an ancient artefact. Some have reported a 45% increase in their takings since the Orkney Venus figurine, known as the Westray Wife, was found at the Links of Noltland and taken on a travelling exhibition around Scotland.

This just goes to show you that if you use archaeology creatively... and finds/artefacts wisely, you can ascribe a 'value' to archaeology... a real benefit. An argument to make powerfully to the government
