I am getting well into performing archaeology - a born show (off) man I am dancing the medieval and singing the 19th century wash-house.
best kept away from public consumption. But in a way it makes people smile and opens up the archaeology to serious discussion. once you have done the washerwomans song to the the tune Oklahoma... anything has got to be better.
I have found this... http://www.sciencemag.org/content/319/58...full#sec-3 the first video :
which is imho brilliant... but anyone else like to provide examples or suggestions?

Anyone have a photo of Patricia M Christie who excavated sites on Salisbury plain ? |

I work at Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum. We are re-designing our archaeology galleries with the help of HLF funding; and part of the gallery will focus on archaeologists who have worked in our collection area. I am trying to track down a photograph of Patricia M Christie, who excavated sites on Salisbury plain and in Cornwall in the 1960's.
I would really appreciate help from anyone who worked with her, might have a photograph OR be able to identify her in a photograph (we do have an annotated group shot from one of the excavations).

Are there any readers of this forum who have looked at an excavated site just beyond both ends of the visible spectrum (near IR/UV), using any technique, but especially ground-based?

Charities and VAT |

Some charities operate very much like businesses, with public funding, and any VAT payable on equipment can be seen as government claw back.
Many small archaeology groups pay VAT on equipment that they purchase, even if their entire funding comes from subscriptions and individual small donations by members of the public. Is this reasonable?
If your charity is medical or related to animal health, equipment is usually zero rated.
Any thoughts?
