I wish to express my sympathy for all those affected by the London Bombing.
Those that carried out this attrocity also affected the G8 debate on poverty.. they care for no-one..

I'm a Londoner born and bred, and proud of it. I've got friends in the city today who I know are safe and I'm very happy about that. I know there are other people who won't be able to say that this evening.
This city was awarded the 2012 Olympics yesterday for a reason - because it's one of the greatest places on earth. London is one of the most cosmopolitan, tolerant, open minded, friendly and free cities you could ever wish to visit. Some people reject that way of life.
Keep coming folks, because those people are wrong.

Yes quite right, I would like to first of all condemn the use of violent acts of terrorism, but I also feel that there is a need for cool heads at the moment, lets not get into mud-slinging here about who did what and why!
The problem is as I see it, that although the group responsible may feel that this is their only recourse to a government that won't listen, they are going to seriously affect us all, the British government will use events like this to rush through the identity card bill and further reduce the freedom that we in Britain think we have!
Cool heads everyone, please!!

With a cool head.....as usual, big boys play games and it`s the little people who suffer badly for them. My prayers go out to everyone. As a practising Muslim, I know that every brother and sister around the globe will be heartbroken and disgusted by this act of pure satanism. The perpetrators are not Muslims. Whatever they call themselves, the laws of Moses are clear and, quite literally, carved in stone: You shall not kill. Regardless of who or what you are, the taking of a life is abbhorant in the eyes of God. There is no eery silence in London tonight, just the prayers,wishes and outstretched arms of the nation. God bless them.

[b]Hi I am from Scotland today my mother and I were watching and participating in the two minute silence as a mark of respect to those who lost their precious lives in last week London?s Bombings. I was moved by this and would just like to say this is a time we all must unite and be able to love our neighbours, we all have a small price to pay which is consideration and respect for the person next to us and be able to look past their colour, religious beliefs or age and give each other the respect we wish upon ourselves. All very sad when anyone dies like that but let's get this in context - more than 5000 people have been killed in Iraq by equivalent terrorism/insurgency over the last year. Twenty four children were killed this week in a suicide bomb in Baghdad - it merited no more than a passing mention among the acres of navel-contemplation and 'gor-blimey aren't we all such brave cockney sparrers' and 'aren't our bobbies wonderful' stuff which passes for journalism in this country.
Have we had a maudlin two minute, morally sentimental, two minute silence for any of them? No. (not that I can see any point in these things which have proliferated since Diana died).And don't get me started on piling up flowers at the scene of any murder or accident - where did that come from?)
We are in danger of becoming American in our blinkered and Brito-centric world view.
Rant over and can we get back to archaeology?

Couldn't agree more.
It was the same in the 70's, 80's and 90,s with Irish terrorist organisations. They were so frequent at times that they made little or no news. These things still happen in Northern Ireland now but we hear nothing about it.
Becoming numb to these events is a sad reflection of the times we live in. Last Thursdays events didn't really affect me until I took part in the 2 minute silence yesterday. A silent tear I have to confess.
There's some bad bad people out there but the Bush bandwagon will never get them, just push them to commit more and more acts because thats the only weapon these people have to make themselves heard around the world. They know how effective they are with their suicide bombings and attacks in major cities that create so much fear.
The only thing that will stop these people will be when they realise that their owm people don't agree with them.
That is a message that is slowly spreading around the world but be patient dear listener. There is a distance to travel yet.

I have to say Galaxsea that in terms of the northern ireland situation (and before anyone says, i know i'm off topic)struck me as very strange.
I moved from scotland to Southern Ireland nearly four years ago and was shocked by the amount of news time that the north's situation got on National tv and radio. At times it appears that all incidents are being reported in the south, but no news is being filtered to the British Isles. This is still the case today.
It is obviously more to do with the British networks being completely Brito-centric and not really seing the north as part of Britain but rather an appendage that allows them to call themselves United Kingdom
