Oh dear.. I iplayer-ed it (new verb!) last night and I don't know if there was some sort of subliminal messaging added to the iPlayer version, but if I concentrated on ignoring the archaeology and history (in a "la-la I can't hear you" way), I quite enjoyed it and I seem to remember smiling occasionally!
It rejoined the realms of proper telly with the on-site banter. Ok, there's the whole stereotype thing, but I don't do PC, the Brits turning up in a Landy and the Germans arriving in a Merc, Marmite, Fish Fingers.... and then the bookish one solves the mystery just as the adventuous ones get back from their death defying activities. Scooby Doo, maybe, but it was fun!
I wonder if things would have been less controversial if they'd all been like this :face-thinks: I know that next week's is bound to be awful as they need to have the obligatory big finale, but I just thought that I would highlight the series 20-odd minutes of glory :face-approve:
I think it probably wasn't so high on the annoyance potential for us because I'm sure there were lots of MOD poeple steaming instead at the representation of the MOD guy. (killing the DOG??? Why????? He was a better actor than the rest of them perhaps? Although I notice he wasn't in lip sync.....)
I don't know much about WWI tanks etc, but I'm sure anyone who does will be picking just as many holes. My main one was - where were the exit wounds for the bullets in the skulls!
