I heard that they write off a UK student loan after 20 years. They might as well write mine off now, as they're never seeing it again. It might be years till I make 15k, and the interest is building up and nearly ?50 a month already. I expect the loan to have doubled to ?40,000 by the time I get round to paying it off.

We were working on a site in Cardiff when a member of the public stopped and asked the usual questions, my mate (who shall remain nameless) said "i've got wood" and i said "i've got bone" We could'nt stop laughing, poor guy just walked off not realising what we were laughing at!!

It was an unsubstantiated rumour. It seems to be pretty difficult to get accurate information about what the rules really are. Probably they are diffrerent for different people, and they make it up as they go along anyway....

I thought it was 20 years as well, from previous comments I notice that they have lowered the earning level for newer loans - mine says I don't have to pay it back till I earn over 17k.

I was repaying on 10k, and then they put the limit up to 15k, so I stopped paying. Now I'm just over the limit again, so I'll be not-so-stealth taxed again...

I can't work out why they now PAY 16-18 year olds to stay at school for their A levels, but CHARGE everyone to go to uni.......
Today, Bradford. Tomorrow, well, Bradford probably.
