Interestingly, it used to be the norm for archaeologists to store everything in paper bags. However, the biodegradability of same created storage and identification dramas later.

Whatever happened to re-using glass bottles rather than recycling them? It has always struck me that recycling glass bottles uses far more energy than simply sterilising and reusing the things (which we did for probably a century or more). Is it just modern squeamishness or is there more to it?
