2. The measuring line. This would be a thin plastic wire (of some flexible but non stretchable compound) marked out in centimetres like a measuring tape. No need for a string line and a measuring tape for sections - just hang your line level of the measuring line, and off you go!

Ha ha. I remember doing this in the early 1990s - not with plastic of course (it wasn't invented then!) - but by marking the string of my plumb bob in centimetres to speed up section drawing (on that particular site at that time I was doing three sections each about 60m long and 3m high). My further development of this was to tie the said dangly thing to a rod (grid peg was ideal) to which I had fastened a line level (using hi-tech string). This enabled me to take accurate points on a less-than-vertical section face with lots of rubbly bits sticking out.

Should have patented it really, but it's too late now!

'Detachable and height-adjustable legs for planning frames.'

Have used these for planning on sites (UK and overseas) with lots of rubble where the frame needs to be kept level. From memory we had planning frames made from hollow aluminium square-section tubes and we just drilled out a hole in each corner and fitted an ajustable leg. Alternatively place an appropriate sized rock under each corner.

I've seen lots of these sans legs over the years. Presumably they either dropped off or were thrown away.

Some years ago I got into discussion with someone I had never met (can't remember how) who said he produced aluminium planning frames with telescopic legs that folded into recesses in the frame - like an undercarriage. My enthusiasm was abated somewhat when he cheerfully asked the best part of 200 quid for one.....
