This is an urgent request... closing date for applications is Friday 14th November!
It is for the
Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel
Normally this would go through the advert system... but it is a bit unusual.. given it is unpaid (related travel and subsistence costs reimbursed)
This gives you a chance to get involved in a particularly tricky, but ultimately satisfactory post.. I myself have decided to apply (just so you know) and would urge those who are able (or nearby) to consider it... it is only 4 times a year.... :face-huh:
Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel - Panel Members (2-3 posts)
The Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel advises the Crown's representative of whether finds of archaeological items, made by members of the public, should be acquired on behalf of the nation for allocation to a Scottish museum. The Panel also advises on ex gratia payments to the finder.
The Panel consists of a chair, a representative of National Museums Scotland, a representative of Museums Galleries Scotland and two other members with specialist knowledge and one lay member.
Scottish Ministers are seeking enthusiastic and committed applicants who would like to be considered for appointment as panel members of SAFAP. Candidates must have a high level of relevant experience, for instance in archaeology, museums, history or cultural heritage.
Panel members are appointed for a four year term. Reappointment for a further term is possible subject to satisfactory performance appraisal and Ministerial approval. Members will be expected to attend all Panel meetings and any additional meetings and events. The Board meets four times each year in Edinburgh.
The posts would commence in early 2009.
The posts are unremunerated, however all directly related travel and subsistence costs, as well as reasonable dependants' carer costs incurred in carrying out the duties of the appointment, will be reimbursed.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is: 14 November 2008
