BAJR Wrote:All interesting stuff. Lets be clear here. SOME job titles are legal definitions.. others are not (oh yes... bajr does not sit on fat arse getting rich and buying speedboats ) like supervisor ( honestly!) or PO.
Therefore you have to go to responsibility - now I have been assured about the responsibility attached to this job. IF (and I very much say IF) this job description does not match my description, then there is scope for complaint, AND then the company gets barred. This is usually not helpful, as it is better to reach an agreement. There are certain assuptions being made here.
Now, REd Earth quotes back at me the BAJR Grades ( which I might add I had to create from scratch - and continue to move forward - but that is a side issue - though damn it would be nice if I had support) I know what I see as a PO.. HOWEVER it is up to a company what it calls people. sorry but thats it.
If you think it is cynical, then grand... don't go for it..... but I have to take on trust what people tell me (yes... it is amazing, but I do try to keep things under control, and after hundreds of adverts, I can make mistakes - but before BAJR there was no check) and only if it turns out that the job advert does not match to the expectations - then I can ban a company from advertising, but that is a last resort. THe grades are pretty useful, and have become accepted as expectations of salary. Therefore, if you find one that you think does not match, does that really discredit the only system that actually created a minima? I don;t think so.
As to buying a Speedboat... lol... I don't think I could even afford canoe!
You are absolutely right, but I do find it a bit frustrating having for some time used your very well thought our grades as a means of judging levels, and with it titles (for what they are worth) and I am massively grateful that you did all the work setting them out, so it just seems a bit like a slackening of standards. And also as if some are unilaterally redefining what Project Officer means, which is nice for them.
But, as an example, can I place an advert on the jobs page? Something like this: 'Archaeologist required at BAJR Grade 5' and then can you tick the little boxes for, let's see, Grades 2, 4, and 6. Bingo!
