Not sure what you mean by the main construction process. I understand that there are issues in the construction industry about bogus employments which is what the CIS card is all about but as I said archaeologists are not considered part of the construction process-we tend to deconstruct. I dont see anyway in which the union has done the subject of self employment in archaeology any favours by considering archaeology as part of the construction industry. What unions seem to be doing is saying you must be a worker which basically precludes there must be a boss. I dont need a boss to do archaeology I need a client. I am a professional archaeologists. I had to inform the National insurance before I undertook work. even digging work or else I would be fined.
