ah... hard questions! I will check.. but would appreciate if others would chip in.
As far as I can see, accom AND subs are suject to compicated rules (well.. complicated for me)
A sub is a justifiable expense . that is related to your work... cleaning, etc.. and is set at an acceptable rate. IT IS NOT to be used to pay for accomodation over a protracted period... as that isa taxable benefit.. the company should be aware that 10% sampling of people who get subs must be presented...
SO... you can't just give everyone £x and hope thats ok... as far as the tax are concerned, you have been paid... as the subs are for non - justifiable expenses.
You can go for a week to a B&B and get subbed.. , but you can't go to a site for 2 months, find your own accom and get a sub... as what exactly is that sub for?? a question the tax office will ask one day....
It is of course more complex than that... so there is no YES/No to the question
Its perhaps time we cleaned up the Tax / Archaeology once and for all...
