I have used a metal detector myself but it is a "news" article which makes me think they used some sort of file photo. Usually news organizations use whatever is laying around that they think is "archaeological". We have all seen these photos of dinosaurs next to the article about archaeologists.

Makes me highly sceptical of anything in a ?news? photo. Metal detector? Shorts? Smoking? Pickaxe? ?news article?? by themselves not suspicious but together?

That is what I was getting at.
