According to Hansard, the second reading of the motion was adjourned on Friday without being put to the vote. A second reading was scheduled for the 19th October.
I am guessing that this is a technicality. Being rescheduled so late in the parliamentary year, this bill has no chance of getting agreed before the recess.
Nice try everyone, but looks as if we are b?!!øxed on this one.
Which means we can divert all our efforts and attention to the BAJR 5% pay increase campaign!!

From what I vaguely remember hearing on Today in Parliament, it ran out of time as a result of the delaying tactics of a group of MPs who "talked out" the preceeding bill, the details of which escape me now.
One of those times when you have the strong urge to hunt down the repellent little SH one tee's,responsible and remind them, with vigourous use of a mattock handle, just what they've been elected for

But they don't really understand the harm they do - its like one big public school common room, see? Bashing them for it is like whacking a dog for crapping in the kitchen.
Also, they're all lawyers so they have no moral compass.

I am sorry to hear about this, it is disappointing. However, it does show that archaeologists across the country can be mobilised to do something about their situation. So often I come across colleagues who moan but, when given the chance to do something, simply take the easier option.
At least we tried and we must continue to try if we are to be given the rights we deserve.
Everyone should support the 5% increase campaign and, closer to October, lobby your MP again. It will be worth it in the end. The only way we can achieve anything is to continually lobby our representatives about the issues that matter. Eventually we will begin to move forward.

well said Mystery.... and very true... we can actually make a difference when we stop moanign like so many PJFs.. (think Life of Brian) and work together for what we all want..
then we can actually get on with archaeology!
Same again for October!
