Festival of British Archaeology, which runs from 16th ? 31st July 2011.
Archaeologists taking part in the project will document their day through photographs, videos and written blog posts. These will then be collected on this website, which will provide a glimpse into a day in the life of people working in archaeology, from archaeological excavations to laboratories, universities, community archaeology groups, education services, museums and offices.
This project is open to everyone working or volunteering in any aspect of archaeology from anywhere in the world ? and even those who have defected!"

No mention of the unemployed......so I'm guessing this little project is another Current Archaeology initiative with its finger on the throbbing pulse of fertile imagination and some way removed from reality !!!! I think thats called 'onanism' isn't it?

Um... yes. I think you may find that it is not Current Archaeology it is something different.

Show the whole range of archaeology, from the happy person on a hillfort in Scotland excavating and training... to the let down and bitter unemployed archaeologist.

Sounds good to me. A large number of photos and diaries of unemployed archaeologists applying for jobs, making cups of tea, doing the housework, etc would be just the thing for letting the general public know what archaeologists do all day. }

Exactly how many infringements of client confidentiality are going to arise from this? :face-stir:
Despite all the well-meaning stuff people post on here the vast majority of archaeology (or 'archaeology') carried out in Britain is not actually for the public good, it's because the developer is being dragged kicking and screaming into the process, and is certainly not for public consumption until officially placed in the public domain. I work on plenty of projects where we'd get sued if I posted a 'what I did at work today' on the net. I'd imagine most commercial archaeologist's contracts have clauses along those lines in their contracts, both commercial and employment, so assuming that people stick to them it's going to make for a particularly c**p survey.....
