1man1desk-good day sir, I hope you are well.
Whilst I agree with your statements in principle, I have to say that in practise, the opposite is often the case.IFA members (M or otherwise) are not in the habit of policing themselves, never have been and probably, wont do so in the future.

With respect - how would you know?

But anyway - the main point was to contradict the suggestion that IFA members are likely to protect each other by deliberately concealing misdeeds on each other's behalf, just because they are members. I don't think even you would suggest that!

Individuals might protect other individuals because they know them personally - irrespective of IFA membership.

IFA members are no more likely to do this than anyone else - but I would be stunned if any member would protect someone else, who might be a complete stranger to them, because they were a member, if they weren't going to do it anyway.

That sir is a horse of a very different colour! In the early days of my "career" I worked for a consultancy where IFA peeps consistantly covered each-others backs.I was even naive enough to stand up in public and lie for the consultancy in question.Retrospect is a fine thing...I would love to be able to take myself back in time and re-run the whole sorry episode but with todays head!It does happen 1man, rather more frequently than any of us would like to see......Big Grin

That sounds like a bunch of people all working together and covering each others backs because they were colleagues. The fact that they were IFA members is irrelevant, as illustrated by your own admission that you joined in, even though not a member.

Do you think that the same individuals, working in the same roles, would have done any differently if they were not IFA members? That

The IFA is not some sort of masonic organisation whose members are sworn to protect each others' interests.

Are you suggesting sir that the only sure-fire way of separating examples of contrived unprofessionalism and chumly behaviour in the workplace is to make archaeologists work in separate buildings?Big Grin The fact that they were IFA members is aledgedly irrelevent. No wonder a vast section of the industry can do as it pleases-"was just watchin a colleagues back Gov".Big GrinWink

The behaviour you describe was wrong - no dispute. The point is, why did they do it?
From the description you give, it sounds like they did it because they were all chums, not because they were IFA members. Being members did not stop them, but nor was it relevant to their motives.

Not entirely sure how to respond to that! I will just point out that such a defence would see courtroom barristers collapsing in fits of hilarity.Big Grin
