For my part, it is the depth of information available, when dealing with such a subject it can be easy to get lost, but simplicity is often the best path. It is true about serif/san serif - however, for shear bursting at the seams joy. It has to be Building History.

Thank you so much to those who voted for my site.

I am delighted that it is seen as useful to archaeologists, when I only cover stuff still standing. After Kevin Greene placed a link to an earlier incarnation of my site from an earlier incarnation of his online companion to Archaeology: An Introduction I developed creeping anxieties. People came wandering into the place looking for information on Iron Age round houses. I expected large-scale disappointment from the archaeological community, if not actual hissing and booing.

I think the fact that it's called 'exploring the human journey' is a bit off-putting and slightly pretentious and/or suggests that they somehow have a monopoly on the subject. Other than that it's a perfectly good site.
