I'm sticking my neck out...
I think UK should win... and the 'Pirates of the Seas" should have a chance
Spain should be taken out and shot...
but... I hope Norway gets it.. though it could be Ukraine!

In the days before the Berlin Wall came down, if you applied for a residence permit to reside in Western Germany you were asked the question 'What country were you born in and what was that country called as at 1st September 1939'.
Much the same qualification should be applied to the Eurovision 'exclusion voting' system. It is ludiocrous, for example that ethnic Russians resident in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia are allowed to vote for their country (Russia) but ethnic Latts Estonians and Lithuanians are unable to vote for theirs.
But I think I have the answer.....The UK needs to put in 4 entries for Eurovision (much the same as we are allowed to have extra football teams in the World Cup and Euro championships). This will allow Scots to vote for Wales, the Welsh to vote for Northern Ireland, the Irish to vote for Scotland etc.
At least then it would be England that came bottom every year and not the UK.....

To be honest... I never watched it.
Its also to do with demographics.
Each country has its own traditions and styles of music.
You will notice that the Scandinavians all vote for one another and the Baltic regions too.
You can guarantee that Cyprus will vote for Greece and visa versa.
It would be quite a fascinating archaeological study to see how music has contributed or changed heritage and the development of Nations through the years.

Not sure about archaeological, but certainly anthropological.
The part that Verdi played in the unification of 19th century Italy
is one example from fairly modern history that springs to mind. It was thought by many Italians that there were hidden messages in Verdi's operas and even his name was considered to hide the hidden acronymic message 'Vittorio Emanuele Re d'Italia' (Victor Emmanuel, King of Italy).
In Eurovision terms, I read recently that Franco conspired to rig the 1968 competition (which Spain won with a 'wordless' song 'La La La') so as his regime could bathe in the reflected international glory.
And there is also a story, possibly mythical, that a certain line in the Portugese Eurovision entry in 1974 was supposedly the trigger for the bloodless coup that toppled dictator Salazar.
