statutory holiday entitlement - BAJR Host - 26th September 2007
The statutory holiday entitlement is changing. The holiday entitlement will increase to 4.8 weeks (24 days if you work a five day week) from 1 October 2007 and to 5.6 weeks (28 days if you work a five day week) from 1 April 2009, pro-rata for those working part-time.

but remember that the 4.8 weeks and 5.6 weeks can include Bank Holidays before beating a path to the HR door.

There is no statutory right to time off for bank and public holidays. Any right to time off or extra pay for working on a bank holiday depends on the terms of an employee's contract of employment.
Does the Government have any plans to ensure that employers do not include bank holidays as part of the 20 days statutory annual leave entitlement?
The Government proposed in its 2005 election manifesto that during its third term in office it would extend the entitlement to 4 weeks annual leave making it additional to time equivalent to bank holidays. As with the existing entitlement this would be on a pro-rata basis for those working part time.
So previously.... 20 days (which could include bank holidays) has now become... 24 days (which could include bank holidays) or of course you could add bank holidays

or work for an RAO, who of course have to give 20 days plus Bank Holidays for f/t employees.
