This appears to be what we are dealing with

http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/culture/organisation.asp?id=1253

in nordenilerland noddy land they seem to have invented things called "licensed director" what does that smell like-no mention of the word archaeologist-whos licence is it?

then theres the interesting solution: enviromnetal archaeology what for, where the map2 reconsider consider again and all that rubbish.

They seem to have a lot of senior I ams in noddy land.

It was estimated at the time of the visit that 50-60% of the crannog, including its structural foundations, remains to be fully investigated.

Yet its taken them six to get this far how did they come up with figure of four weeks and seem to now require environimentaly archaology sampleing. Did they not require that before even though they had a liecneded directory.

The Road service how did not know that the monument was there but did build:

Quote:The crannog measures 20-25m in diameter and displays archaeological deposits extendingat least 3m in depth. It is still surrounded by a rock bund which, to remind members, was put in place by the Road engineering team to preserve the site for investigation following the

Quote:procedure to drain water from the bog but instead resulted in a rapid water loss which
subsequently threatened the preservation of the site.

as in they did not build a bund that retained water, as in AMeY who like mousels are not having a great time of it recently or in fact since 2008 and the outing of their only freinds the bankers http://www.cnplus.co.uk/ringway-named-on-420m-highways-deal-as-mouchel-and-amey-contracts-end/8628394.article

were amey preffered bidders, who made them that hay

ps who were the original land owners and how much were they paid for the land?

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - BAJR - 6th August 2012

All questions I am now ready to ask the right people..

will get back.

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - Unitof1 - 6th August 2012

is the real presure on this site is that they have to get it done before the end of this summer? ----yes

so far as I can see is that nobody is asking : what do we want to get out from this site.

chucking some so called enviromental person (do they have a licence to be the great director) who plays with their self is not the answer. is it

ohhhoooo what lays below the foundation of the cranwogie, sorrory crasoggie, sorroy boggyiewogie, soorory havent a clue what it is, dont worry they have a "licencecd director" whoes name is not important

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - BAJR - 7th August 2012

I have spent time on the phone in discussion with the archaeological contractor who supplied the labour - for reasons of confidentiality I will not be disclosing the name.

I am satisfied regarding the reasons behind the non continuation of some staff members on the site and have been assured that this is only in relation to this site.

It was clear that people should try to understand that binding contractual obligations and archaeological ethics often scrape together uncomfortably and complexity of communication from the various bodies involved will have contributed to a less than perfect understanding of the whole picture for any one group.

That said, the pending Ministerial investigation will perhaps highlight the issues that brought this crisis to a head and may perhaps be a a warning for other future capital projects.

Clearly, the staff who stood up for the archaeology did so for the best of reasons - the archaeology itself, and this should not be held against them, as they were unaware of ongoing negotiations for the site and they felt this was their only course of action - however, there should be a better way of voicing concerns. One that needs considerable thought by contractors.

I am happy that should staff want to work with the contractor again - on other sites - this will not be prejudicial.

so does that mean that the site is going to be finished off with less staff or have the missing staff been replaced?

I dont understand this not naming names business. Archaeology is supposed to produced a public record from an author or authors. Surely there should be a name that we can point at or is this how protected faceless governmant empolyed archaeologists work? sorry I ment pension grabbers and that includes the smug noddy ireland archless forum. Are there any independant archaeologists or companies there?

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - BAJR - 8th August 2012

More staff and a changed strategy .

As to naming names. -- I think you may have answered your own question .
Believe me, they would like to... as this sort of guessing is not helpful... but when was the last time you worked on a project from the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland?
Nope... exactly.

Different rules Unit...

It comes out afterwards.

The most important thing was the assurance that site staff are not blacklisted.

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - Wax - 8th August 2012

If the whistle blowing members of staff are black listed it will be very difficult for them or anyone else to prove that is the case. I do hope that their future carears are not blighted by their integrity and that the various regulatory authorities BAJR included keep an eye on what happens to them.
Assurances have to be seen to be followed by action or else they are worthless hot air. (Well done BAJR in raising the concerns):face-approve:

Quote:More staff and changed stratergy
You mean changed staff and more strategy.

So the staff were dismissed for breach of contract. How does this work when applying for your next job?

Why did you leave your last job?"

Breach of contract but with an underStanding that this should not be held against me"

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - BAJR - 8th August 2012

See what partial knowledge does?

I try only to open my mouth when I know what will come out.

You don't know the story - so please stop.

Cherrymount Crannog, Co. Fermanagh. - BAJR - 8th August 2012

Blacklisting is not happening - and I will be keeping an ear out. if people can't get jobs in the future I will know and therefore I will be less than happy. BUT as far as I am aware. this is not going to happen.
