Steamed Beech Sieve! - A thing of beauty - BAJR - 6th February 2012
ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE UK - HELP SUPPORT TRADITIONAL CRAFT
A traditional sieve with a difference, handmade in Whaley Bridge, by the UK's sole surviving traditional maker of wood framed riddles and sieves.
- This 18" steamed beech frames, with 1/4" (6mm) mesh is perfect for finding smaller items and artefacts while excavating.
- Remember though that it will not recover items less than 6mm in size - so may not be used to collect ecofacts (such as seeds and charcoal) - for example.
- This sieve is both sturdier and more attractive than their common tin, plastic, or ply counterparts.
We have found true love in a sieve form!
