Gentlemans Agreement - Implications for staff - BAJR Host - 26th January 2007

The issue of diifferential payment... The final figures when all is taken into consideration ... will be equallity.... thus no worker will look to another company and be envious of bettter pay/conditions.... not good on a job like this.

Dont you think tho that this is also down to whether or not a unit pays for lunch breaks or not? A 37.5 hr week with half an hour unpaid lunch vs 40 hrs with paid lunch break implies that the hourly wage for the 37.5 hr week is higher than it is when in reality you spend the same length of time actually working.

I should hope not as that would be illegal under The Working Time Regulations (1998, rev 2003). [:0] For work days of more than 6 hours a break has to be WITHIN work time.

Think you misunderstand, yes there has to be a break, but it doesn't have to be a paid break (otherwise just about every business and local authority in the country is wrong, which I suspect is not the case). Never in my over-long life have I worked anywhere where lunch break counts towards your working hours - standard working week of 37.5 hours has to be 37.5 hours working.

"The issue of diifferential payment... The final figures when all is taken into consideration ... will be equallity.... thus no worker will look to another company and be envious of bettter pay/conditions.... not good on a job like this"

Does this mean the lower paying company has raised it rates universally? Or that it will have employees of the same grade on different rates on different projects?

Gentlemans Agreement - Implications for staff - BAJR Host - 26th January 2007

i would not like to answer that myself. (not my place really) Though I do know that I was informed by the Consultancy, that they were aware and would be ensuring parity...on this project...

I am not aware of how this will affect the other grading across the entire company... best to ask the company directly.

I see where you are coming from.. this of course causes difficulty... with non preferential treatment (this time in reverse..)

:face-huh:

Sadly I am a bit tied up just now with caring for my mother (so I hope you all understand my mind is elsewhere just now)

But interesting interjection

Seems this may not be as tied up as thought - nothing has been mentioned at Cotswold about this situation and the wages/wageslips are through. No increase in pay to the Cambrian level.

Will ask again....
