I think it fair to say that 'conflict' does not define our evolution or societies in any adequate way. feel free to conflict with this point of view.

Not all conflict necessitates War, or even Kinetic Humanitarian Expeditions...

Please feel free to use the event to express disgust with the Military Industrial Complex as whole.

Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Jack - 7th September 2011

'Conflict' is almost definitely the driving force behind evolution be it biological or social. But 'war' is just a part of the continuum of conflict.

No matter what our liberal sensibilities tell us we are all constantly at conflict - with the environment, with the other creatures (and plants) around us - especially bacteria, viruses etc. and with each other.

I bet you every adaption can be traced to a conflict somewhere.

But........I am of course not saying the war is the root of all invention (only some). War is usually little more than a disagreement between very few people with power..........unfortunately those few then drag the rest of us into it.

Hope springs eternal, but I doubt Humans will ever give up conflict unless they are forced too (by conflict! - see Equilibrium or Rollerball)

Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Dirty Dave Lincoln - 8th September 2011

How can we expect countries to give up on war/conflict when we can't even get a bunch of archaeologists to agree on anything????

Anti war mass assembly oct 8 - Jack - 9th September 2011

Agreement doesn't mean that the issue is so. Knowledge can be gained through discourse which invariably involves conflict.........oh I mean disagreement }Smile

Will Humans ever give up the concept of conflict?...Nope, because, as the old saying goes..'The enemy of my enemy-is still my enemy'

hmmm well, cod evolutionary theory and Nietzsche-isms aside...

10 Years On: 9 11 : worlds most terrifying terrorism?, worlds most conspiratorial conspiracy?, the best excuse ever for perpetual War?

Lets at least accept the diversity of opinion on this, even as we remember the dead and continuing tally of victims.

The BBC at least seem to know what happened:

Conspiracy Road Trip : http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b014gpjx

Although the participants do not seem so sure:
http://911truthnews.com/911-conspiracy-roadtrip-a-participants-perspective/

http://911blogger.com/news/2011-09-09/bbc-911-conspiracy-road-trip-rebuttal

At least Former Mayor of New York thinks "The War on Terror" has been a big success, and advocates More War:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p00jxwm2/Hardtalk_Rudy_Giuliani/

Although others dont think it was such a good idea:
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/opinion/comments-analysis/global-war-on-terror-enormous-and-avoidable-price-of-9/11/articleshow/9930629.cms

10 years on, many questions still being asked: As a professional interested in material evidence and its taphonomy, i wonder: just how lucky was it to recover the undamaged passports of alleged hijackers from the rubble of the twin towers? Or find recognisable "parts of air stewardess" in the remains of the pentagon inferno, as claimed by the BBC witness in "the Road Trip"? .... or indeed lots of other 'lucky' finds and coincidences....i suppose it could happen...(typewriters and infinite monkeys perhaps)

how much was know about the hijackers before hand - what went wrong with US government agencies?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2035199/Mystery-surrounds-posh-Florida-home-linked-9-11-terrorists--FBI-failed-report-it.html

Total chaos and confusion seemed to affect all parts of US 'infrastructure' and responding organisations:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2035099/The-building-just-came-apart-Newly-released-9-11-tapes-aviation-industrys-response-towers-fell.html

Maybe conspiracy Monster Alex Jones was on to something after all:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13XfwKsdrj0&feature=player_embedded#!

Terrifying Terror? Massive Government Incompetence & face saving cover up? Huge Conspiracy? - - - lets not pretend that there is consensus on this:

just look at this compilation of names and quotes from everybody from 9 11 commissioners, to first-responder witnesses.....

http://www.911summary.com/

only thing that seems certain is that 9 11 has become a pretext all kinds of regrettable polices...

End this Miserable War Now.

Come to the Europe Against Austerity Conference in London
Show solidarity with Greece

Saturday 1 October, 10am - 5pm
Camden Centre, Bidborough Street
London WC1H 9AU

www.europeagainstausterity.org

Events in Europe are moving at breakneck speed. A Greek default is now a question not of if but when. Working people in Greece are growing increasingly disaffected at being told repeatedly that they have to pay a price for protecting the banks.

They have already suffered wage cuts and attacks on conditions. But every time the IMF, the European Bank and the EU demands more. Politicians are talking in cataclysmic terms. A default would lead to a slump in living standards not seen in Europe for generations.

This austerity is being imposed right across Europe, and the rest of the world. Everywhere we are told there is not enough money to fund welfare states, education and health systems. The public sector everywhere is threatened with privatisation and cost cutting, to the detriment of us all.

At the same time, the wealthy, the bankers, the businessmen and their friends in government refuse to make any sacrifices. They squeal at the suggestion of paying even a penny more in tax. They always justify spending on weapons and war.

Their answer to the recession is to cut deficits in every country, forcing the economy into stagnation, raising unemployment, cutting wages and living standards. That’s what they have been doing in Greece for more than a year, with predictably disastrous results.

Around Europe, people are demonstrating, protesting and striking against austerity. Here in Britain 3 million workers will be striking on November 30. They will have the support of millions more.

But these attacks cannot just be fought in Britain. They are an international attack to make working people pay for a crisis that is not of their making. We have to show solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Greece, Italy, Portugal and anywhere else we are under attack.

The European Conference against Austerity could not be coming at a better time. Hundreds of delegates from across Europe will be meeting to discuss how we fight these latest attacks and build a different world. Speakers include representatives from some of the major left parties and trade unions in Europe, experts and academics on the crisis, and activists and campaigners fighting against the cuts.

We will be planning how we join together to organise to roll back this attack that we all face. Come and join us, and get your union branch/group/campaign to send delegates.

I what the alternative is? Can't just go on giving people money for nothing.

Also from experience many councils need a massive shake up to stop them wasting our money. Some folk working for councils do no work at all, stealing our hard earned tax money.
