DF guide to cold weather working - Dinosaur - 27th December 2010
Ok, ok, so I'm rubbish at shopping around :face-crying:
Still happy though, been sitting around watching tv in them over Xmas (admittedly a few other clothes too!), cheaper than putting on the heating

A couple of young ladies who work for me have size 4 feet, its difficult to get even the most basic footwear this small.

I am sure we have been here before. There are plenty of suppliers of Safety footwear in sizes as small as 3.....such as these people

Dig faster and stop complaining, it's only the weather................I find wellies best, get em big, put some decent insoles in em (from Millets or outdoor shops) and two pairs of decent thick walking socks, never had cold feet yet

Unfortunately someone has to do the paperwork and drawing
.....but as predicted a few posts back, having spent the money the 'heatwave' has arrived so back to wading around in liquid mud in wellies anyway (can't believe I've been lumbered with a 200m x 3m site with a spring-fed small stream running down the entire length...it's a 'clean, record but don't dig' job, so can't even help it on its way)

The wellies recipe equally good for planning and paperwork, had no problems with feet doing lots of planning in weeks before xmas. you gotta get well layered and it's well worth buying proper thermal underwear from anoutdoor type shop, 20 to 30 quid will be well spent and last for years:face-approve:

What the hell is it?

A haul road that someone carelessly forgot to get SMC for, I'm their punishment! Would be good in summer and without the spring - the area runs down a hill and the spring's somewhere just outside near the top, but being pre-stripped there's nowhere else for the water to go without more SMC. When it's cold enough the ice just keeps accumulating so less and less safe ground to walk down the trench..... Good archaeology (Med abbey +), bit of a wind-up not being allowed to dig any of it, just clean, record and protect
