WHS Trowels - RESULT!! - BAJR Host - 11th November 2005

I will get you all the full reply as soon as I have wrested it from my mother er... er... I mean administrator bless er!

Basically though they have listened and replied...

The new trowel was based on research in the construction industry... however they will now look to creating an 'archaeology' trowel as they do not want to lose the close association -

As soon as the new design is available.. with thicker blade! they have agreed to a trowel off ! Now thats news to warm the cockles.!

Thanks to those that contributed to help me write to them.
Big Grin

Another day another WSI?

Good news Mr. Hosty! Can we get some free ones to try out as market research? Smile

WHS Trowels - RESULT!! - vulpes - 11th November 2005

CK as your pointing trowel is presumably used mainly for pointing (at things) or cleaning your wellies after site visits I'm not sure you need one with a thicker blade.[:p]

Sorry to disappoint, but I use my trowel for lots of things including plastering, digging holes in the garden, opening beer bottles, defrosting the freezer and levering up floorboards. I also jump into trenches on monitoring visits and have a poke about if I'm not happy with something - you should see the shock on some diggers' faces. Strangely enough I also go digging as well! Smile

I have also used mine once at a BBQ to turn over meat.... prob not too hygienic though

have just borrowed/appropriated/stolen a new style trowel from our site equipment store, so can eventually add my voice to how rubbish they are. Really don't like the way they go ping. Look forward to the new designs as my old faithful trowel has certainly seen better days, but have a feeling my new one won't last on the nasty clayey site I'm on.

++ i spend my days rummaging around in dead people ++

WHS Trowels - RESULT!! - Dave-Bonner - 15th November 2005

oooooo, cool! Any idea WHEN this new ones appearing in our tool sheds? Will need to aquire another one soonish and wondering whether to hold out for an archaeo-WHS/Spear n Jackson/Neill's. Can't afford to buy two!

Gizza job!!!!! ....please!!!!!

WHS Trowels - RESULT!! - troll - 20th November 2005

A good job nicely done sir...however......the creation of an "archaeology" trowel... does this mean that we will get the old standard back and then be asked to pay silly amounts for it?Wink

WHS Trowels - RESULT!! - Beki - 21st November 2005

Aye, i belive that'll be the case..mi old trowel has seen better days. Can't really see that there will be much difference in these new 'archaeology' trowels..i mean what could they do to improve on our old favourites? short of having a lazer or something in the end to blast through solid clay in the summer months....
