Could I make a suggestion that BAJR start a new job ad section where non-archaeological jobs can be advertised. It may include jobs where archaeological training and background might be appropriate rather than the pure subject.
I'm dying to get out and I imagine so are many others.

Thats a good start. I'm sure they'll have structure and organisation, an incremental pay scale, in-house employee representation and decent effective union representation, training, serious health and safety policy, pluralistic selection of working hours, paid overtime...so on and so on..anymore suggestions foxboy?

I doubt very much that they have either effective union representation or 'pluralistic selection of working hours'. Even at management level you will be working 14-day (or longer) stretches, changing from nights to days to 'graveyard' shifts at less than 24 hours notice, be denied days off which you had booked months ago etc. etc. Believe me.

Effective union representation, that made me laugh! Why do you think they are the most profitable company in the world? Not by listening to deranged left wing ranting from union shop stewards!

I think you will find yourself looking back wistfully at the green green grass of archaeology after a couple of months.

Bang go my career objectives then!

Happens to me more often than I could care to mention...believe me.

Most profitable company in the world is Exxon Mobil, clearly. Not denying your comments though; see http://www.corporatewatch.org/?lid=21&query=tesco

Did a lot of things before I did archaeology and this is pretty pants.

Is it archaeology or conditions that are turning you off?

Not wanting to get personal but would you stay if the conditions were different/better, or maybe move sideways within archaeology?

P.s. Pretty pants....how about a photo!!!Big Grin

Gizza job!!!!! ....please!!!!!
