Another day another WSI?

TV opportunity - BAJR Host - 9th August 2006

I have now had an opportunity to talk with the production company, who have made it clear that they are taking their responsibilities seriously and will of course be ensuring that archaeological sites and monuments (not just Scheduled areas) will be clearly exempted from any ‘search’ area.

It can be too easy to jump to conclusions and they do understand the worry, but are keeping in contact to ensure that it is not an issue. I hope this allays any further worries about this real opportunity to have fun, excite people about amazing heritage sites AND perhaps even raise the profile of archaeology. Yes I know that most archaeology now is dull watching briefs, but sometimes, we just have to remember that it can be fun too ….For one lucky archaeologist it may be a chance to show just what the greatest tool we possess is…. The Brain.

I am happy with what they have said… I hope you will be too.

Damn !

Sounds Like Mr Hosty now has an inside track on the being 'the archaeologist' on the show ! :face-approve:

Doh !Sad

Hmmm looks like I will have to go off and dig the holes myself and find the baubles..... or better still take my team off site for the day and get them to do it for me ... he he :face-huh:

TV opportunity - Pipeliner - 11th August 2006

Still Not heard anything more about my application......so it probably isnt going to me ...sob sob

but, meanwhile......for those that may still be in with an interview (as applications are now closed):-

A quote from elsewhere on the net

"Life will not be made easy for the intrepid treasure hunters. They will struggle with harsh conditions during their quest and one person will be eliminated from the adventure each week. The 7 x 60-minute series is a co-production between Princess Productions and Ten Ton Productions, Theakston’s newly established personal production company".

Hmm wonder how harsh it can be ...visiting exotic historical sites?[xx(]Smile[xx(]

Oh, further update of information for you all....and this should now spark a discussion Big Grin

Found elswhere on the web

THE SEARCH
A new prime-time Channel 4 programme called 'The Search' is currently looking for participants.
The idea is that 10 bright individuals are taken to a country rich with history and intrigue, and the group go on an elaborate treasure hunt that will involve solving complex cryptic clues and undertaking difficult skill based challenges. The show combines the fascinating areas of history, literature, classics, art and cryptology with the excitement of a treasure hunt. For example, one episode may involve a similar 'hunt' to that presented in 'The Da Vinci Code': taking the team from Paris, through France, to London and then on to Edinburgh. Over the course of the series the team will visit a large number of culturally-rich countries, from Greece to Russia and Peru to Egypt.

We would like 2 of our 10 contestants to be knowledgeable in the area of mysteries- from historical subjects like the whereabouts of Noah’s Ark to more contemporary debates over UFOs and big cats.

Looks like this is right up Mr Hosty's street !!!!!!!
The only big cats he know about are yellow and tend have toothed buckets attached to them and UFO is not a term of endearment!

Enjoy !
