Time Team America Promo - BAJR Host - 28th June 2009 Part extreme adventure, part hard science, and part reality show, TIME TEAM AMERICA takes viewers deep into the trenches of America?s most intriguing archaeological sites see the promo here: http://www.pasthorizons.tv/tv/view/364/time-team-america-trailer/ and later in early August, Past Horizons will have an in depth article on the why, how and where as well as the who! Move over Baldrick... the yanks are coming... and from what I am seeing - there are no Villas! :face-approve: <hr>Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position. Mohandas Gandhi Time Team America Promo - Gog - 29th June 2009 No Villas? Bliss:face-approve: Time Team America Promo - BAJR Host - 29th June 2009 sign me up!! Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position. Mohandas Gandhi Time Team America Promo - BRahn - 30th June 2009 Looks good, they seem to have a good range of sites and are 'selling' them in a good way for their audience ("You're the third person to touch that in a thousand years" "We've found the houses of the lost colonists"). Returning to the digger from a previous clip, it looks much more like they're using the toothed bucket to dig, but I suspect what they're really doing is using it to quickly remove quite a thick layer of topsoil/leaf litter/root rot/overburden/A-horizon, and then doing the 'real digging' by hand. Not strictly kosher in either country's archaeology, but better than taking the teeth into the archaeology! I bet they'll even sieve what the digger removes once it's been stripped. Time Team America Promo - BRahn - 1st July 2009 That muscly guy with the handlebar 'tache and the shades appears to be packing some.. (Just watch, he's probably a Professor Emeritus or something) Time Team America Promo - Bier Keller - 1st July 2009 Quote:quote:Originally posted by BAJR Host Not even Pancho Villa? Beer is your friend Time Team America Promo - Gog - 1st July 2009 No - nor Aston Villa, either. Time Team America Promo - Bier Keller - 3rd July 2009 The trailer looks really exciting...can I be an archaeologist too? I bet they must get paid a fortune as well. Something that grabs me about this advert and it's ilk in the UK is that archaeology often comes across as a fun thing to do. I know that they have to sell this to the viewers - but I can't remember the last time I actually had fun on site. Hard bloody labour? tick Trouble making the rent on basic? tick Trouble with p*ssy clients? tick Getting told that you should not complain as there are plenty of people who would do your job for free? tick Fun? Good one, like it. "Part reality show"? Please, spare us that nonsense. At least there are some familiar faces that are NOT in the advert. (And I thank all the old Deities for it :-) ) Beer is your friend Time Team America Promo - Dirty Dave Lincoln - 4th July 2009 Archaeology CAN be fun BK-i'm not certain when or where though. Maybe the TT americans can explain why the natives never invented the wheel? :face-stir: Time Team America Promo - shavedmonkey - 4th July 2009 arcahaeology is great fun. once you've stopped worrying about how bloomin' awful it is and started doing something to change it. That's why it's so annoying being told over and over again that it's crap by people in it. There's three reasons why most of us do it- we love the work and we care about the past disappearing. The third- all the peanuts you can eat... We know the deal when we go in, so we've only got ourselves to blame for the negativity. get out there and do something to make a difference. back on topic... TT America. Harmless fun. False urgency created for drama by TV. Anyone expect otherwise. Suggest watching the site webcam images that croped up a while back and think how you'd get people to watch that... Looks worth a watch if there's nothing better to do. |
