Although I've signed this as well, I wonder just how shackled/constrained the Governments hands are-it is easy to forget that they have the concerns of the whole Country to consider-and beyond that our commitments to the wider world. Because this recession has global reach, we are not the only one's in difficulties. It must be very hard to accept (for the Guv') knowing your choices are so dependent on what happened under the previous administration and is happening in the wider world that it would be easy to think you have no choice at all in your decisions; for those who watched Babylon 5, when Londo Mollari became the Centauran Emperor he said to Vir "when I was just ambassador, I had all the choices in the world-but no power whatsoever, now I am Emperor, I have all the power I could ever wish for-but no choices at all".
"We ain't seen nothing yet" I think this is more true than most of us realize.

Yes it is a world recession
Yes we are all in it up to our necks
But deregulation of the planning system is p...ing in the ocean. The only reason I can see that this government is going down that route is lobbying from the construction industry who like the rest of us are in serious s... .The only effect it will have is to allow the sort of trashing of our heritage that occurred at the start of the C 20th. I really believe we are ruled by a bunch of public school boys who have not got a clue how the real world works. The worst possible government in the present global climate. Gods help us all !!!!!!!!!!!
