Open Access Archaeology Fund – First Award available

Current Article Views: 247 views

Nine months ago Internet Archaeology and the ADS launched the Open Access Archaeology Fund was launched and you are one of the earliest supporters. Thank you for helping the fund get off to such a great start!

The little USB trowels have been sent all over the globe and they have be thrilled with everyone’s generosity, not least in such austere times.  Even BAJR sent a donation to help out and secure a lovely little usb trowel!

Thanks to these donations, sufficient funds have now accrued to enable the first award to cover the costs of an unfunded archive or article.

So if you, or someone you know, has submitted (or is interested in submitting) an Internet Archaeology article proposal or making an ADS deposit for data for which there is no obvious available funding, then applications are now open. (Details here)

The successful application will deplete the fund but they did not want to delay making the first award as it is preferable that the benefits of the fund are fast and tangible! Of course this means they need more donations to do it all again in 6 months time

Every new donation made helps to ensure that more archaeological research is open and accessible. We’d be very grateful if you can continue to help spread the word. Some of the most recent posts and links you can share are here:

Have you donated yet?
The successful application will likely deplete the fund substantially but we did not want to delay making the first award – it is infinitely preferable that the benefits of the fund can be fast and tangible. However we need more donations to do it all again in 6 months time!

Every donation you make helps to ensure that more archaeological research is open and accessible.
