Geophysical survey of the London shipwreck

Cotswold Archaeology Marine has been conducting a geophysical survey over the wreck of the London off the coast of Southend in the outer Thames estuary.

The survey utilised a multibeam echo sounder, side scan sonar and a sub-bottom profiler in order to delimit the extent of the wreck, assess the current condition of the site, and to determine the depth of the deposit in advance of the excavations planned for next month.  The side scan sonar produced this splendid image of the wreck.
