This exciting day school will take place in Bentley Woods, outside the roundhouses. You will learn the basics of core selection, technology and application. There will be hands on opportunities.

As this is a hands on course, there may be a risk of cutting yourself; please ensure that you have had a tetanus booster and bring some thick gloves. A follow up course will look at making different tools. There will also be the chance to stay in a round house for the night.

More Information

The Sussex School of Archaeology Limited (SSA) is a new and exciting venture providing archaeology courses to the general public and more specialised training courses for amateur and professional archaeologists.

The SSA was set up and run by Chris Butler and is managed by Lisa Jayne Fisher with David Rudlingas Academic Director.

The SSA course tutors are all specialists, most of whom taught recently at the University of Sussex and are very experienced in their fields, thus providing some of the best archaeological training available and we hope to offer this at reasonable fees.

We will run a series of SSA day schools, evening classes and trips, together with practical training courses to suit the interested armchair archaeologist as well as the keen amateur or professional looking to enhance their existing knowledge and skills.

All SSA courses can be valid for Continuous Professional Development for members of the IfA.
