On Saturday 16th November John McCarthy, an Edinburgh-based Project Manager for WA Coastal & Marine gave the opening talk to the Edinburgh, Lothian and Borders Archaeology Conference 2013.
John’s talk detailed the interesting stone anchors found by recreational divers on the seabed at Sicar Rock near Dunbar.
These mysterious artefacts were investigated by WA Coastal & Marine in 2012 on behalf of Historic Scotland. Some of the anchors have been lifted and are currently on display at the John Gray Centre in Haddington until the end of January.
With one suspension hole and one tine hole, these are unlike any other anchors known./ or are they?
