Yeah, the response I got was that YAT currently have no archivist and thus nobody who can be of any help to me.

It is unethical to sell archives in Scotland because all objects without ownership belong to the crown. In England objects belong to the landowner unless other claims are made. A proof of ownership is the right to sell the objects. To give objects away could be viewed by the HMRC as a gift http://www.money.co.uk/guides/how-do-i-g...-taxed.htm.
