thank you, but it is interesting that you considered it.

fully with you Mr T
Mr T. - Today I just had a look at some finds brought out at the request of the public into a public space. You only have to ask and none of the people ( well maybe 1 or 2 ) were crusty. and one was a detectorist
You can't actually physically display everything
Better available for all to see OR ask to see than hidden in a tupperware box under a bed gathering dust
. Smile
what if some don't end up in a Tupperware box but on a shelf in the back room by a underwatered plant pot?

OOH someones been round my place. But seriously are not all of us who break the ground in search of the past beholden to up hold the principles enshrined in The valletta Treaty?
One would say that is the idea Wink

yep you should do
Mike.T. Wrote:Why is that better ? Yet more finds to be stuck in plastic boxes gathering dust in a storeroom only to be seen by some crusty academic once every 30 years.

I'm glad I don't live in Scotland.
i'm getting the strong impression that you dont do archaeology
Marc Berger Wrote:Do you live in the Borders?

no.....but it's a lovely place!
I'm with you mr B, and also remember that in Scotland this means that all things are subject to rewards including pottery, lithics, bronze etc......not just some nonsense about just treasure!

I think the point is dissemination of information......why else would you dig something up other than for personal gain. I'm all for profit but why not combine it with doing the right thing!
