independent and impartial and who knows what they're talking about, who's going to check the new Chartered IfA's standards, who actually
understands them ? Presumably from IfA's point of view it could only be a, errr, a
chartered archaeologist...

you are describing half the mounties i come across - though the other half do an excellent job
I shall watch developments with interest. I hope, for the sake of archaeology and all who work within the industry, those vociferous members of the CIfA manage to steer it in a direction that gives the rest of us some confidence in it. They have much work to do though.
