http://bajrfed.ning.com/

have a look at the forum
Solutions - Professional Network

(in the centre column)

you don't have to be a Federation member to view
you only become a Federation emmber if you join a group... (ps.. still have to enter all the terms, conditions and FAQs)

You can however join, and discuss in the public forum...

the discussion is actually quite interesting... about the first Contract Archaeology Symposium, an event they hope will provide the springboard for much closer liaison in the future between contract archaeologists, academics and curators, and consultants and developers.

So well in the concept of the Federation.. and indeed one to attend...

want to know more... get along and have a look...

comments welcome! :face-huh:

and yes I know!!! no smilies yet... working on it! Wink

"ACCESS DENIED!!!" by the County server. Looks like the BAJR Federation could see the demise of the Curator Kid. Shame. I rather liked him... Sad
ah.... poop!

hmmm... this could be true for a few ... you may have to keep up in the evening Smile

I got through despite our fierce security system, and it looks good to me. Bad luck CK, hope you make it through somehow....

Why is a photo and a list of my skill set neccessary to register?

Keep it simple. Looks good.

Peter

Hmmm are the skills required? I'll look at that.

Am still to be 100% happy with this... and won't move until we are at least 95.34% happy!

Am slightly worreid about this platform, and the overall lack of control .. where they might pull the plug, or change the terms of service, or a host of other 'issues'

I am looking at building from scratch.. which could take a month... but perhaps then, we could be happy with what we have.

There do seem to be some issues with it. I like being able to post on people's pages, and I like the chat once we worked out how to keep it public or private.

I agree with all of that, maybe ning isn't the platform that we should build the new forum around? there are ways to keep conversations private on ning but for people who aren't familiar with the system then perhaps we should use a system that is similar to the current BAJR platform.

Am working on it right now... Elgg a very sophisicated but more importantly simple system... and one that I can build to suit... in fact it ends up cheaper than the Ning option... just more work for me to start with..

I want to get this right... so thanks for bearing with me.
