Im a geoarchaeology graduate (graduated last year)

I was wondering how to keep in touch with the archaeology world now not in uni and now working as a part-timer at Coral bookies, as been hard to get any job.

Id like to still keep up-to-date and take part as much as I can when not working in the profession. It will probably take a while to get somewhere on the archaeology career ladder, as need a driving license, and yet still stay where I am with commitments.

Down below the mines and sea ooze and fake fossil bones put there by the creator with nothing better to do than upset archaeologists and give them silly ideas. Terry Pratchett - The Light Fanastic

I'd say keep an eye on this site, and hunt down your local units... they might find they need someone at short notice for small bits of work, and it's all experience. A driving licence does seem to be pretty much essential, though, if you want to get anywhere in archaeology.

Not to do down your driving plans, very good, very useful, but I have met lots of trainees who couldn't drive. Its just a real bugger on the train.

hmm
I still can't drive and recon it's actually help me avoid some quite dull jobs over the years.
Of course it helps that I did much of my fieldwork in London (office boy now), and that I'm very flexible about where I live.
I like the train too, by the way; I can get stuff done, like catching up on research with a G&T in my hand. Cars are tedious, and only quicker if you get a free road.
