Had a chap in the shop this morning who was telling me of what seems a very exciting project.
Apparently they have access to an extensive area of land that was a Roman iron workings industrial site.
The site had a small dig in the 60's which where the emphasis was on the industry rather than the residential aspect.
The guy is part of a small group of detectorists that have conducted heavy research into the area and have made some amazing finds to date.
The archaologist who originally dug the site has revisited the site with them, despite now being in his 80's and has been very interested in the project.
Part of which is to open a small museum in respect of the site both in relation to the industrial and residential side of the society there.
The project is generating a lot of interest both amongst the local detctorists and archaeologists.
Seems like it is set to be a great example of mutual co operation.
