I don't know what you think out there, but I think that it is no longer worth doing an MSc in Museum Curation(I post this as advice more than anything). Many museums are admitting that they are employing non-museum qualified staff but they will be employing staff that are qualified in a specific area. This means that many who have spent £1000's getting qualified in the MSc's in Museum curation are over looked. This seems to be the new reality. I am giving this has advice as a lecturer who is now seing too many people getting disappointed.

How disheartening.
I was looking at this job and wondered if things were picking up for our indoor cousins:

So what is the pathway to success in museum work TF?
Voluntary work?
Youth/community work experience?
Office/admin skills?

I would definitely go for the job but push the education side. If you said you could introduce the educational use of Moodle at the interview they would be really be impressed. You need to really research what it is they want primarily doing in the new post and then push that you know a lot about this area. Talk to someone at the museum before applying - I am sure they will give you all the answers you need before you even get to the interview. Just make sure your ahead of the pack! Go for it - but think carefully before you spend thousands on an MSc or a Post Graduate Diploma. (NB - Moodle/VLE/My Space will get you a long way)!
