Marden Henge, the largest henge enclosure in Britain, is situated within the Vale of Pewsey between the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. Antiquarian accounts of the site describe a huge mound within the enclosure called Hatfield Barrow, which collapsed after excavation in the early 19th century. The henge and surrounding area are being investigated through aerial, geophysical, and field survey.

Thanks for that... I do like a bit of digital digging to see what can be done! That vid was useful by putting into context the site and surround features. I could not work it out before!

Other news just in: the Site is on Flickr

and this quote

Posted today's photographs from #mardenhenge onto the projects Flickr page. Note that these poor archaeologists were working in temperatures touching 30 C - way too hot for this sort of thing. Nice archaeology though, especially in Trenches C and D where they appear to have found a small henge inside the huge henge enclosure. That's just greedy.
