Apologies if this has been posted on here before, but I saw this movie for the first time today and thought it a very encouraging example of co-operation between Archaeologists and detectorists.
Shame its a butt ugly Brun production, but its still worth a watch. :D

Yes, very interesting from an archaeological point of view. And well-filmed and presented, well above average. Congratulations. (I particularly enjoyed the 'bloopers' film!).

Part two is to be added soon were you can see the results from the ground scanners and the votive site and the reaction when it was said that the site would be scheduled. :-)
Just sign up to the channel and it will automatically inform you when a new item has been put up.

It is worth noting that this sort of co-operation is taking place more often than many folk are aware.
I have just been involved in a similiar way with our local club the Weston Historical Research and Detecting Association with a special medieval seal.
At present is locked in a Somerset Historians safe until copies are professionaly produced for the church, the land owner and myself as the finder.
It would be nice for more people to know what many detectorists are contributing to to our national heritage.
Next month I have been invited with our FLO to be the guest speakers after a English Heritage AGM and in my eyes this is the way forward.
Keep up the controlled debate with tolerance and understanding as this is the only way forward.
Well its time for another cup of coffee.
Best Wishes,

Weston-Super-Mare Museum requested our Weston Historical Research and Detecting Association for help by loaning them some of the wonderful finds located by its members over the years from the general local Somerset area for a couple of months.
The Museum have provided a large secure display area which has been allocated by the museum curator and staff for the general public to view this professional layout.
Talks were given By Mark Sayers "Vice Chairman" and Jerry Morris "Chairman" on separate days for all those members of the general public interested in the hobby or our finds to come along and spend some time with us.
Its interesting to note that by giving talks like this how much more land becomes available for us to detect and this enables us to add further data to local historical records through what we find.
It would ne nice if more detectorists followed our methods by showing what responsible detecting is all about and how we can benefit our communities understanding of our ancesters and their way of life.
Well its nice to keep you up to date with our hobby and to report that all is well and that our local FLO is a happy man.
Lets hope that this arrangement can continue to flourish and is not restricted by and future legislation which might restrict the number of finds being recorded.
Well its time to head up the wooden steps but I have not posted for a while and thought that you would like some good news.Jerry.

Jerry I know its a bit off topic, but your post reminded me of a series of articles that ran in the hobby mags a few years back.
Do you remember the call for detectorists to help set up 'mini museums'.
The idea was to set up displays in local settings, such as schools, libraries, even pubs and village halls etc, showing the range of finds coming from each locality.
Seemed an excellent idea at the time, as it gave the locals an insight to their local history, I wonder how many are still going?.
