questions from a beginner...

I'm off to a dig on a Roman villa in Spain this summer, and have been told to brin 'work clothes' and 'work gloves' with me. does anyone have any advice on exactly which kind of clothes/gloves would be most suitable?

Thick woollen mittens are reccomended as is a full tweed suit including plus fours and stout walking brogues!!
