Of topic... what is happening regarding waiting for information from Mr M Heyworth regarding the COP. Information that is coming back to me is telling me that some people have been telling "porkie pies" and miss quoting certain individuals??? Dodgy I think!!!
I presume the matter referred to is the concerns that were raised by certain detectorists about the statement in the original CoP press release issued by the BM that the Code of Practice for Responsible Metal Detecting would become compulsory for NCMD membership. As I understand it, to clarify this issue, a statement was issued on their website by the NCMD denying this, but that statement has now (it seems) disappeared.

On the other hand, Roger Bland writing in the latest Rescue News just out {alongside a number of other statements I find extremeley questionable, but this is not the place ...} "The NCMD is committed to making adherence to the Code a condition of membership" (RN 99 Summer 006, p. 5). Is this a continuance of the misinformation discussed here earlier? Or have there been other developments to which Roger Bland is party which supercede the NCMD statement on this matter issued at the beginning of May?

The last that many of us independant detectorists heard Paul, was the NCMD had been misquoted in suggesting that NCMD membership is reliant on complaince to the CoP.

If Roger is now stating that this in in fact the case then the question is whether this is the now NCMD official position or wishful thinking on Rogers part.

If there have been developments in this matter, then surely it is only correct that the NCMD announce this?

More political maneuvering no doubt...

Very interesting quote Paul. I have no idea about this, but I am in the process now of making further enquiries about it and will come back with a reply soon as I get something.
