A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to work with some ex-miners who were also keen detectorists.They were volunteers on a commercial excavation.I was delighted recently to meet one of these guys again especially as he has now been working as a professional archaeologist for a couple of years now! Blindin! Tiz guys like this that could bridge the ideological divide between archaeology and detecting......:D

Thats great.. I know several detectorists that have gone on to study archaeology.

This also helps demonstrate that the hobby is practiced at very different levels.
