Morning to you all.
It is worth reporting that two major detecting clubs in the west country that I belong to have this last week read through and discussed the contents in some detail.
At both meetings our FLO Kurt Adams was out of courtesy allowed to make his presentation first.
After which we had a detailed discussion and gave our formal response from both the WRADA and SHRADS meetings,in general it was given a warm welcome and in general absolute support.
Both of these very responsible metal detecting clubs are adding to National and local history by already recording through Kurt for the PAS.
In one particular village the locals are thrilled to bits that we are proving what has long been suspected, that it has previously had Roman and medieval settlements within its immediate area.
At last through metal detecting we are giving them hands proof with the finds from their home fields.
I have recently started to give talks to local history groups about what resposible metal detecting is all about and my detecting partners and I just cant get to all the land that we are being offered for many months to come.
I would add that to those who have problems with accepting the COP document and its contents it is better to work from within and not moan and groan from the outside.
By doing so those who are unhappy with the current version of COP would also be able to have a valid voice to bring about any possible modifications to its contents should they are needed.
Well Have a nice day all.Jerry.
