My name is Rebecca Lee and I am the PA to Karl Lee. Karl is one of the countries leading Flintknappers (making of Prehistoric tools) and Primitive Technologists. He has been studying and practicing the art for over 12 years and is well known throughout the country for his skills and his demonstrations. He has featured on many TV programs and given many lectures on the subject in places such as the Royal Academy in London. He has extensive experience in working with children, children with special needs, behaviour disorders and disabled persons of all ages. He has done many demonstrations for the scouts including survival techniques as well as many schools, which proves very popular. He explains to the children what tools Prehistoric people made and makes them in the demonstration, often letting the children partake in the demonstration.
I would like to inform you that Karl is available all year round for demonstrations, tuitions, Archaeology days and also any teaching collections/ replicas etc made to order for you to display in your schools etc. He has public liability insurance and is also able to travel anywhere in the UK and worldwide by arrangement. Please see below for two of the many references Karl has received and the list of organizations that have booked Karl this year.
Karl has done many displays for museums and caves throughout Britain and has also done demonstrations in caves, to give the general public an idea as to what it would have sounded and been like to live in prehistoric caves. Karl has also done many demonstrations in castles.
If you are interested in Karl doing a demonstration or would like to see some of the replicas he has made, please visit his companies website:

“We were delighted with the workshops which Karl delivered to members of the Oxfordshire Branch of the Young Archaeologists Club. The children, who range in age from 8 -16, were enthralled by the sessions. Karl's knowledgeable, but easy style of presentation encouraged lots of participation. I think even he was surprised at the level of positive and active response he drew from the whole group.

From an organisers' point of view I was very impressed at the level of careful preparation and information provided by Karl in advance of the workshop and his thoughtful organisation and delivery of the sessions, combined with a willingness to be ultimately flexible.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Karl warmly to deliver workshops to other groups.”

"I spent three very enjoyable days with Karl, during which time my flintknapping skills improved hugely. From the moment I stepped through the door, Karl made me feel very welcome in his home, and the tea's didn't stop flowing until I left (which is very important in my book)! Karl is not only a very relaxed, fun and patient guy, but clearly also has a very deep appreciation and understanding of the practical skills underpinning many prehistoric technologies. I was particularly encouraged by his unwavering positive attitude when it came to flintknapping - whenever my hand-eye coordination let me down Karl would get me thinking about the best way to work around the problem. I am really glad I spent the time to understand the practical side of prehistoric technology in more detail with Karl, and would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in ancient skills and crafts."

Hmm. I can't help wondering if this contravenes the AUP, as a commercial venture?

We owe the dead nothing but the truth.

People are flogging metal detectors, advertising employment agencies and you choose to criticise this?

I have to say I love the fact that a flintknapper has a PA. I have visions of someone dressed like the wives in the flintstones sitting at a large rock outside the cave sticking post-its on flints saying 3 leaf arrow heads.

Well that is my world

As David is on holiday and normally I edit the commercial scams that come to BAJR my view, which is not neccessarily the view of BAJR or Mr Hosty, that promoting courses and archaeology is OK provided that it is not a replacement for a job ad.

There is BAJR bay or BAJR sales which is a free service .....

The important point is that it is of interest to people who read BAJR ...
