Hi does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to bump up your fieldwork experience? Im havin problems with the archaeological catch 22 - you need experience to get a job but to get the experience you need experience! [?]

Try volunteering with local units or Alternitively Send C.V's to units looking for a Trainee position, most good units will take on a promising looking trainee. As long as there is work. You will build up experience in no time.

I second that. I got a job with Cotswold when I had next to no experience. They're not a bad unit to work for.
My tactic when in your position was to send out a blizzard of e-mails, one to just about every unit I could think of. It worked.
Peace,

Popping in un-announced to talk to the hirer doesn't hurt either sometimes. Units are usually informal enough to tolerate it, and you'll probably get a little job interview on the spot. Puts you to the front of the job applicant queue over people the hirer hasn't met yet.

you could also try thaddeus breen's website directory of irish archaeologists. list majority of employers websites, you would be employed as ageneral operative for a few months on basic wages them promoted whenever you had got the graps of it
