Very sad about the over-reaction to an extremely interesting discussion on the other forum. I'm referring to the follow up discussion rather than the original controversial one. Now that it's been stopped in its tracks any chance of consensus and progress is gone.

The status quo wins again.:(

Interesting as it may have been, it clearly crossed a line, and a line which had been clearly drawn for all to see. So topicality aside - I'd rather have a well moderated 'BAJR baiting' than no BAJR at all.

Sledgehammer it may well be... but the discussion can continue once I am back in the UK and able to moderate and also deal with the fallout of teh previous discussion. I too was sad to lock the forum, but it is temporary not permanant... I just want to enjoy the rest of my time here in Jordan without wondering what is happening.

As an aside..... please look at the BAJR baiting boad for an update .... it is positive and useful... or... what the hell.... here it is as well.

I have had a request from YAT and others that were also concerned about some of the allegations- but they want to know more about this. However what has be requested is that you contact me privately... info@bajr.org (mailto:info@bajr.org) and I will collate them, talk with teh companies and they will either explain where there is a misunderstanding OR investigate ... this is a very very reasonable offer that does not involve public rants that damage BAJR and/or the company.

So.... if you have a beef.. contact me privately..

The forum stays closed until my return on the 5th October. Then we can discuss how best to run it, so we do not have a repeat of what happened.

Positive action...
take heart

Another day another WSI…

Fair enough.

I'll consider how best to proceed. If I have to let it go I promise to shut up.

The key reason for locking BAJR baiting was David's unavailability to ensure that BAJR rules are followed at a difficult time.

This is a forum for discussing Starting out in Archaeology not a place to subvert the list owners views. I donot think it was an over-reaction on Davids part in the circumstances.
